Back to School

Holy cow, it’s officially the end of summer and that can only mean one thing: back to school. It’s time to dust off your backpack that was shoved deep into your closet back in May and get ready for the coming semester. Like most, I always go into the first day of classes with the mindset that I will conquer the world, but fall short a few weeks later when the stress and anxiety of balancing assignments, work and a social life all just becomes to much. Not this year. I am determined to stay organized and to be excited for the year ahead. I thought it might be helpful to share some tips and tricks that have worked for me and hopefully will be beneficial to you this school year!

Get in a routine that works with your lifestyle and stick to it.

This will be different for everyone, and that’s okay! Not everyone is going to be able to go to the gym before their 8:00am class. You have to be realistic when creating a successful routine. For example, my routine this semester starts with a morning full of classes. Instead of rushing around in the morning like a chicken with it’s head cut off, I pack my lunch and lay out my clothes the night before to give me a little more time in the morning.

Resist the urge to over-schedule. 

I’m not sure about you, but I can’t stand still, like ever. Durning the school year, it can be very tempting to over schedule yourself. Try to stick to a few activities and events, so that you can give your full attention to each. Don’t do it all! I find when I try to do as many things as I possibly can, they don’t receive my full attention and aren’t accomplished as well as they could be. While I love to keep a busy schedule, sometimes you just need to have some time for yourself to catch your breath.

Don’t stress!

I know, this is a lot easier said then done. Going back to school comes with a whole bunch of stress that can be hard to control. There is a lot to take in. Make sure to give yourself grace and enjoy all the memories that come with the new school year.
